Light Black

I always hated the phrase "are you feeling Blue". What's wrong with Blue? I like Blue! It's my favorite color. I feel like when I'm feeling down I feel more black than blue, but whatever. I haven't been around here lately. The mix between my hectic schedule and feeling a little blue er... black ... let's go with a light black. Has made the flow of my words cease. I don't feel like I have time for much anymore, and when I do take a day off for me to catch up with things I feel incredibly guilty that I'm not working on my Series 7 exam. Eric's been really incredibly supportive - but I even feel a little guilty when he has to fend for himself. It's a lose lose situation, really. I need to find a balance, but some days I feel like I'm just trying to stay on the beam let alone find the balance on it. Let's just say after reading S7 stuff all the way home, and running flashcards a few hours into my night I called it quits for the da

My Friend the Fainting Goat

I'm getting ready to sit down and study a bit - as per my usual regiment. It's always very helpful for me If I get what's on my mind off first so I can hunker down and really concentrate on those corporate bonds  - or whatever it is I'm reviewing tonight. I don't have much to say... Weird for me. I've been kind of mute all week as my voice has decided to take a vacation and so I've been squeaking all week. My co-workers seem to find it quite entertaining!   I forgot to post this picture this weekend. So Really, that's the entire point of this post. As we were walking back to the car on Sunday after enjoying some Fainting Goat Gelato I saw the sign and said "Hey Kat, I'll take your picture with the sign if you lay down like a fainting goat in front of it".  I fully expected her to tell me No. Much to my surprise she was in front of the sign fainting like a goat. We laughed... a lot. Though I think the guy in the background

The Calm after the Storm...

It's been a busy weekend. One of those weekends that leave me wishing on Sunday that Monday was a Market Holiday. But alas it is not and we must forge on! I'm headed to the bath, but wanted to jot down all the amazing parts of this weekend while they're still fresh in my mind and since Ten on Tuesday has pretty much FAILED recently, I'm going with Seven on Sunday? What can I say I like alliterations. 1| Aquaman turned 4 on Friday - as you can tell by my 3 posts about him this week. I just love my little pup so much and he is now snoring by my side. Life is good. 2| It's been kind of on the low down, but I have to say I am REALLY excited about my NEW co-worker that I get to start training on May 7th. Such a great opportunity for her - Oh, and she's a good friend of mine too! Looking forward to seeing her shining face more often! 3| The Oleson Ronnebeck family had quite the weekend together. We hung out Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We're not sick of ea

More Aquaman Pictures....

These were taken one night when I was studying in our bedroom. He would NOT leave, and often gets really upset when I won't let him in to help me study... but trust me he's NO help.  But he behaved himself, and just laid on the bed looking at me with those HUGE eyes... like... Mom when are you going to quit studying and come play with me????  Oh buddy... you make me smile.

My 4 Year Old!

Aquaman - Year 1 2009  Do I think it's crazy when people dress up their pets for photos? Yeah, I do. Do I think it's crazy to put a birthday hat on my dog once a year for photos... the answer to that is very obvious by one look at these pictures... no, I don't. But if you're judging me... I don't really care, they're cute. And it's fun to compare them year after year... I hand made his hat this year - it took me all of 4 minutes, and I'm happy with how the shots turned out this year. Year one, we tried the "Drop and snap" to get the photo. And it worked... kind of. We got a few shots of him looking like he was about to get whacked on the head by a brick... but it was just a piece of paper... I promise. Year two I got my favorite picture to date. He must have been feeling particularly cooperative that day, because man is it cute! Aquaman - Year 2 2010 Aquaman - Year 3 2011  This was his uncooperative photo... I

Today He's 4

Eric took this picture of him this morning... he's about to get a full on photo shoot here in a few minutes... so then I'll post 1-2-3-4 all in the same post, I love to watch my furry baby grow. He's 4 today - and I couldn't imagine my life without him... he brings us so much joy! Thank you Aquaman for being my favorite furry beast! Happy Birthday Baby Boy!

Cats!

A couple weeks ago my co-worker Max e-mailed me and asked me if me and a friend (or my spouse) would want to go with him and his girlfriend Li to see the Broadway production of CATS at the Paramount in Seattle. If there's one rule I live by, it's never EVER turn down free tickets to see a Broadway musical. And wow, did that rule pay off for me this week! I was so blown away by how much I liked this show! I mean, when you look at the pictures of the CATS production you would wonder who the hell would go see a production about cats, that look like the band White Snake dressed up like cats? When I saw the poster I nearly turned around and thought "forget it". There was NO way I was going to enjoy this show, but Max had invited me so I was trying to stay optimistic. But let me say... the tunes are catchy, the dancing was amazing, and the storyline... well, that's pretty bizarre but the rest of it was GREAT! In fact, I downloaded a lot of the soundt

My Odd Fascination

My Mom always gave me a little bit of a hard time for my fascination of those things dark and grim. I can't say that I've ever grown out of it.From the Holocaust books and movies to the wreckage of the Titanic to the short moment in time when I wanted to work at a funeral home, things like this leave me in awe. I spent a huge portion of my senior project on The Holocaust, but an even bigger portion of Junior high on the Titanic. I don't know that I would be as fascinated by the stories of the Titanic if she had made her voyage to New York unscathed. But then again, would any one else in the world care much either? Titanic would be in the history books as the "Unsinkable ship" without the (hehe) next to it. I can't believe it's been 100 years. I figured there would be all sorts of documentaries  and I've been eating them up! And for the record? I was into Titanic way WAY before Kate and Leo jumped on board... though I thought the movie wa

Make New Friends... But Keep the Old

On Wednesday night I drove to Olympia with Eric to meet up with John Talcott. We went to high school together, and were such great friends! He was the friend who I had the best and deepest conversations with, and we shared birthdays! It was so much fun to introduce my husband to John, as John was most protective of me growing up. He always told me to guard my heart - and that someone who came along would be deserving of it; Eric is certainly that boy. I've been thinking on this post for some time. It's hard to find the words to encompass what it's like to hang out with an old friend. We sat across the booth from each other sharing our new conquests and old stories. It's been about 7 years since we had a chance to catch up in person, and our lives have taken such radical directions. I live on the west coast, he lives on the East. We're both successful in our own world, but miss home from time to time. John should be back in my area in the next mont

Ten on Tuesday

1| Don't worry - this entire post is not about weight loss or gain, I just think this little "how much do I need to lose" flyer was pretty funny. I'm not even sure where I stumbled upon it! 2| That being said, I feel like I've gained 120 pounds from dropping my 10 hour a week skating habit and picking up my 15 hour a week study habit. 3| I hope everyone had an enjoyable Easter holiday! It was nice to enjoy a spring day here, a rarity lately! 4| Did I just talk about the weather? I'm getting old. 5| Today was one of the most stressful days at work I have had in a long time. I am ready for this week to be over already! 6| My Niece Erica wrote me a letter last week that I answered today (see Er? It's in the mail!) She asked me about my feelings on Justin Beiber. I have to say... HUH? I guess it's a teen thing, much like my Nsync days! 7| Eric and I made a yummy Mexican inspired meal tonight, complete with some soy based product for the meat on

The Stone is Rolled Away!

The Lutheran buried deep inside my soul can't help it... Christ is Risn' HE IS RISN' INDEED!!! Okay, now that I got that out of my system... Happy Easter Everyone! I don't have much to report... I guess... I did some marathon posting last weekend, and then for some reason was quiet all week. I guess maybe I ran out of blog-gas! At least my last 3 posts were pretty awesome to make up for it! We had a really nice Easter weekend, and the sunshine renewed my spirit a little.  I know that most people get affected by the rain, but I think I need to figure out some vitamin supplements because I get positively grouchy. This weekend was great ... mostly because Friday morning started out with a Easter Bunny Shaped Krispy Kreme Doughnut... How could you go wrong from there? There was only one in the box and it was MINE! I'm a good sharer like that. Friday night we went to a Good Friday tenebrae service at Resurrection Lutheran Church (RLC). We r

Photo a Day ... Kind of

So... I got this new app on my ipod. It's called 365 (or something like that). I took a photo a day for March, and I'm not entirely sure If I'll do it for April or not, but It's kind of fun! I did the photo a day project a couple years ago, and this app makes it damn near impossible to screw up. So... here's march, maybe You'll get to see one for April ... if you're lucky!

Comicon Art & Books 2012

This year at Comicon we had quite the haul of original art and books! I am super excited about every piece and I would rave about each artist, but really, they were all pretty great! The first up is Vinny Navarrete who is the artist of "Dear Dracula" and his new book "Sketch Monsters". Being a fan of "Dear Dracula" I was pretty excited to see  him back at the comicon for a sketch and the new book! Eric took my "Dear Dracula" book back on Sunday to get it signed, and he ended up getting another sketch - my third from Vinny. I love each one!   Scott Campbell does a lot of really cute drawings, I enjoy his art quite a bit, but when I saw one of his newest books out called "Zombie in Love" I couldn't pass it up! He drew a little zombie dog in there after he signed it! Sweet Zombie Times!    I found Ray Fawkes by complete accident last year, and ended up buyin Posessions 1 & 2 and loving the little poltergeis
